ADVANTAGES

When the water source is groundwater, river water, or municipal water, SDI is the most cost-effective and energy-efficient method of purifying water. SDI removes the dissolved charged species such as total dissolved solids (TDS), inorganic contaminants, and radionuclides.

Capacitive Deionization (SDI) vs. Reverse Osmosis (RO)

  • SDI has an 80% water recovery when purifying to drinking water quality. RO has a 30% water recovery.

  • SDI costs approximately ₹8 per 1000 liters. RO costs ₹15 to ₹25 per 1000 liters.

  • SDI does not require water softening prior to purification. RO does require water softening prior to purification.

  • SDI is a low maintenance system. RO is a high-pressure system across membranes requiring routine maintenance.

  • SDI is capable of leaving some minerals in the water. RO removes everything, including good minerals.

SDI CELL

  • Up to four cells can be configured in series, applicable to a wide range of TDS

  • Operation under stable DC voltage by using bipolar electrode (300VDC or less)

  • High recovery rate, up to 80%

  • Low energy consumption due to low voltage operation
